Rivers in Estes Park Area

BIG THOMPSON RIVER BELOW THE DAM - Stream fishing is on! Water levels are now good. Fishing has been good on the Jujubee midge in the size range of 16, 18,20. Dry flies like the bow, size 20 are starting to work In addition try Poison Tong, Lint Bugs, Prince Nymphs, and the San Juan Worm. Also, try some BWO In the smaller sizes in the afternoon. Try flying black ants too. The thread midge in black size 24 and dk green in 26 are also working. The RS2 in 22 and 24 have been working too.

BIG THOMPSON RIVER ABOVE THE DAM-    . Fishing has been fair on the Jujubee midge in size 22, and flying black ant.

NORTH FORK OF THE BIG THOMPSON-    Combination of prince nymphs and bwo. .

FALL RIVER-   Fly black and and royal wulff are working.t.

Lakes in Estes Park

LAKE ESTES-   Stocked for the Memorial Day Weekend. Worms are hard to beat. Also, try the gold Kastmaster fished slow and near the bottom. Also, good reports on salmon eggs and power bait

MARYS LAKE-  Stocked for the Memorial Day Weekend. Worms. Also, try the red and white 1/4 size daredevil fished slow and near the bottom. Also try salmon eggs and power bait

Fishing Rocky Mountain National Park

MORAINE PARK-   Good reports on the bronco worm fished under the banks, also the San Juan Worm and Flying Black Ant. In addition the basics like thePheasant Tail, Hares Ear. For dries try Caddis, BWO and Adams.

LILLY LAKE-  Good fishing on ez caddis, damsel flies, flying black ants

SPRAGUE LAKE-  Had fun with our local Trout Unlimited chapter yesterday in teaching 15 youths how to fly cast and fish Sprague. Had several new flyfishermen and women catch trout on size 16 Parachute Adams, Fly Black Ants and Blue Winged Olives. This was the first of maybe a yearly tradition of providing instruction on how to cast, fish, learn bug life, knots, and receive a free flyfishing outfit(valued at $99.95) to kids age 11-14. We had 6 hours of instruction and a free lunch for all. We had a lot of fun so look for it again next year!

ROARING RIVER-  Tan caddis is working

GLACIER CREEK-  Open, blue wing olive

HIGH MOUNTAIN LAKES-   Lakes are free of ice but many with a lot of snow around them. Loop wing emerges, blue wing olives and flying black any are working. If no rises, try woolly buggers.
