Your fly fishing adventure begins with the small streams and high mountain lakes of Rocky Mountain National Park, or the larger Big Thompson River. We offer “drive up” fishing where its a short walk to the water or we can hike farther distances and maybe not see another angler all day long. We might catch Brown Trout, Rainbow Trout, Brookies and Cutthroat. There is also an opportunity to catch the rare and endangered Greenback Cutthroat Trout which has been brought back from the brink of extinction.
These trips are perfect for the “never ever” fly fishing angler. That’s our specialty. Our professional guides will teach you all about the equipment, give you a short basic fly casting lesson, talk about flies, lines, leaders, tippets, knots and give you a lesson in entomology, if you’re interested. We will teach you how to wade safely, how to read the water, find the fish and how to safely handle and release those beautiful wild trout. We practice catch and release on all of our trips. For the more experienced angler we can just fish, if that’s what you are looking for. Perhaps you are wanting to catch one of the Colorado native Greenback Cutthroat Trout? Our guides know all the sports in Rocky Mountain National Park’s high mountain lakes where you can catch these beautiful and rare fish. Trips like these require a little hiking to reach the small streams and lakes, but the wait is well worth it with the opportunity to catch a unique fish and do it with stunning scenery in the background. Needless to say, this is a great way to get your children interested in a sport they can pursue for the rest of their lives, and for the older folks, just another day in paradise!
You can choose from 4 or 6 hour morning trips or the 2 hour evening hatch trip, whichever will fit your schedule and will allow you enough time to fully learn and appreciate the joys of fly fishing. To book a trip or to check availability call us at (970) 586-2877.
